Lawrence school board to hear report on student behavior, attendance and more

The Lawrence school board on Monday will hear an end-of-year report on student behavior, attendance, surveys and assessment scores.

“These data points can be indicators of the general health of our school system and provide some insights on the effectiveness of programmatic decisions,” according to a memo to the board from Zachary Conrad, the district’s executive director of research, evaluation and accountability.

According to district personnel reports, Conrad started his position July 1.

The student data report was not available with the board’s online agenda materials as of Sunday afternoon.

In other business:

• Monday’s is the board’s annual organizational meeting. Among many administrative items, the board will elect its president and vice president and consider its meeting schedule for the 2019-2020 year. The proposed schedule would continue a 6 p.m. regular meeting time on the second Mondays of the month, with the exception of March, and most months’ fourth Mondays.

• The board will hear an update on legislation and the budget from Kathy Johnson, executive director of finance. The report was not available as of Sunday afternoon.

• The board will consider a 5-cent increase in all school meal prices except for reduced-price lunches and breakfasts.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at district offices, 110 McDonald Drive. Agenda materials are available via usd497.org.
